Barrafina is proud to announce Safe Cruz of Madrid’s Michelin-starred restaurant Gofio as the latest guest chef in the quarterly series inviting Spain’s best chefs to cook a special menu at Barrafina Borough Yards for one night only. He will be joining us together with his co-founder and partner, Aida González who heads up front of house at the restaurant.

Barrafina Invita, in partnership with Gin Mare, celebrates the breadth and quality of Spanish cooking from Spain and the rest of the world.

July’s guest chef, Safe Cruz, was born and raised by a family of farmers from El Tablero, Tenerife, where he first learned about the local cuisine and ingredients that his island home has to offer.

Gofio is an homage to the cuisine of the Canary Islands. Opened in 2015, the restaurant is named after a type of Canarian flour made from roasted wheat and has been a one-Michelin-starred restaurant since 2019.

The seven-course tasting menu will feature:

Barrafina Invita sees Barrafina’s Executive Chefs, Antonio Gonzales Milla and Francisco Jose Torrico, invite the best Spanish chefs or chefs cooking Spanish food, over to cook a special menu at Barrafina Borough Yards. Previous guest chefs include Jordi Bross of San Sebastián’s celebrated two-Michelin starred Mugaritz, Borja Marrero of MuXgo in Gran Canaria and Miguel Caño of one-Michelin starred Riojan restaurant, Nublo.

Safe Cruz will be cooking a set tasting menu at Barrafina Borough Yards on the evening of 9th July. The experience is priced at £85 per person and includes a Gin Mare welcome drink and set menu. Drinks and service not included.
